InUnity – Innovation for Community, in partnership with the Waste Impact Trust, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and Comedkares, created an opportunity for driven young minds. The REimagiNEWaste Hackathon was an event designed to bring together aspiring innovators, providing them with hands-on experience, mentorship from industry experts, and support from prestigious institutions. This marked the beginning of an exciting journey as enthusiastic students immersed themselves in the world of e-waste and energy saving for a greener future.
The REimagiNEWaste Hackathon was a four-day event that united 400 passionate youth, supported by over 40 industry mentors and backed by more than 30 prestigious institutions. This hackathon aimed to ignite inspiration and foster awareness among participants about the challenges posed by e-waste, while encouraging them to generate innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
During the event, students experienced field visits, gaining firsthand insights into the magnitude of the e-waste problem and the reality of e-waste management. They discovered the environmental impact of e-waste and how their ideas and actions could make a positive difference.
With the right resources, tools, and guidance from experienced mentors, participants had the platform to unleash their creativity, innovate, and bring their ideas to life. They built prototypes, hacked solutions, and showcased their remarkable innovations.
The REimagiNEWaste Hackathon was a testament to the power of collective effort and the determination to address challenges. The top 10 teams were given the opportunity to incubate their solutions and had 45 days to prototype their ideas. They competed for prizes, and the winning teams had the privilege of utilising their prizes for further development and the highly anticipated REimagiNEWaste Hackathon Final took place. This exhilarating event marked the culmination of weeks of hard work and innovation from the participating students.
