First step towards becoming a change maker!

Social Innovation Program

One step at a time to

Empower Social change.

In this course students will be introduced to various sector specific, real time problems of the region. During the 12 weeks of the course, students go on multiple field visits to experience social immersion and develop compassion for their communities through continuous interactions. They simultaneously conduct primary research using the knowledge of research tools and methodologies. This is a completely activity based class, with a fun-loving environment that is infused with challenges. It is a process-oriented program that facilitates teams to get an in-depth understanding of the problem and tuning the approach by building prototypes to create a plausible growth for the community through their solutions.

Outcomes

of the program!

They are challenged to get out of their comfort zones and start engaging with the diverse sectors around the region. They learn from the numerous examples of social innovations taking place all over the world. By the end of the course, they build prototypes for the problems identified along with the concepts, mindset and skills that will enable them to start and evolve as change makers.

Apply research methods

Apply research methods to organise, analyse and define the problem.

Design solutions

Design solutions to the challenges identified along with the stakeholders of the community

Build rapid prototypes

Build prototype using rapid prototyping tools for the ideas that can solve the identified problem

Innovation and Design Thinking SYLLABUS!

01

INTRODUCTION TO REAL-TIME PROBLEM STATEMENT

Through hands-on activities, problem-solving exercises, and real-world case studies, students will gain the confidence and skills needed to tackle real-time problems of the community to challenge and solve it.

02

MARKET RESEARCH & PROBLEM ANALYSIS

In this topic students will learn various market research methodologies and techniques for problem analysis and learn the importance of gathering customer insights and market data in order to design the product in most effective way and solve real-world problems.

03

IDEA GENERATION & VALIDATION

Students will learn various ideation techniques, market research methods, and best practices for incorporating customer feedback into the process. This course focuses on generating ideas to solve real-world problems and validate it through market research and customer feedback.

BUILDING BUSINESS MODEL FOR IDEA

Through lectures, hands-on activities, and business model creation exercises, students will develop the skills and confidence needed to create and test their own business models from analyzing market trends and consumer behavior to evaluating the viability of an idea.

05

PROTOTYPING & USER VALIDATION

By creating prototypes and testing them with users, students develop a deeper understanding of the importance of user-centered design and the role of prototyping and user validation in the product development process.

Brail Tab

We are creating a ‘BrailleTab’ this tab converts english text to braille text code. So that they can read any kind of books and acquire knowledge. Unlike regular screen readers, a person with hearing and visual impairment will also be able to use it.

Smart Chessboard

Our chess board is an advanced version of the basic braile chess board. We have pushbuttons underneath every block and it is linked to an Arduino. When the visually impaired player keeps the pawn they will get to know the location and placement of the pawn by audio format

Projects

InUnity hosts a set of events and programs to help foster an environment of creativity and innovation.

Foot Operated Toilet Flush

Whenever a force is acting on the pedal the liver comes down and the flush works. Instead of using the hand we use the pedal inorder to avoid direct contact with flush.

Smart Cane

Our smart cane would help them walk with confidence and they need not carry their phones all the time because of the inbuilt vibrating system in the smart cane. Our smart cane has two ultrasonic sensors one at the bottom and one at the middle of the cane. The one at the bottom will sense obstacles on the ground. And the one in the middle will sense objects at a distance. There is a sensor at the handle which vibrates when there is any obstacle. There are two buzzer which alarms when there is any obstacle.

Text to Speech using Glove

The gloves convert the particular gestures to text and speech utilizing Arduino as heart of the system. The flex sensors connected to the gloves that convert the gesture into resistance that will regenerate to the text and sound through Arduino nano.

Stay Connected!!

An online student innovation community is an excellent way to solve regional problems. It leverages the collective knowledge and experience of students from around the region to develop creative solutions to regional issues. The community is an open platform for students to share their ideas and provide feedback on each other’s ideas. It can be used to develop strategies, collect data, and share resources. It is a great way to bring together like-minded students from different backgrounds and locations and collaborate to develop solutions to regional problems.
